Legislators have a full-time job!

Published by G8trgirl at 9:40 pm under Lege Watch

If you “google” the Louisiana House of Representatives or Senate there is a place on their website’s where you can look at all the bills that have been submitted for this session.  I’ll warn you now, it’s not an easy maze to maneuver.  There were over 2200 bills submitted for this session………1389 House Bills and 813 Senate Bills.

No wonder they “think” they have a full-time job.  Is it just me or does anyone else think this is a bit excessive?

Perhaps they don’t want it too easy for the average joe to be able to maneuver through their legalize.

The legislative rookies have got to be overwhelmed. I have a hard time believing ALL of these people are writing their own bills…….who is coding this legal mumbo jumbo?

Ann Duplessis and Jim Tucker are conducting classes in How to Code Legal Mumbo Jumbo 101.

As for Jindal, he is now CREDITED WITH allowing the most bills to pass THAN SOME RECENT GOVERNORS……The Greedy Gator “Lators” are loving this man……God Forbid if he decided to veto the pay raise and BETRAY THE 62 OUT OF 64 PARISHES THAT ELECTED HIM GOVERNOR…What would Ann and Jim do?
    Go back to override…..

CORRECTION! GOD FORBID IF JINDAL VETOED THE RAISE AND BETRAYED THE LEGISLATORS. What would Ann and Jim do if jindal VETOED THE BILL to keep his pledge to THE 62 OF 64 PARISHES WHO ELECTED HIM?

The governor and the legislature have betrayed the trust of the citizens of Louisiana. Every legislator who voted for the pay raise should be recalled.

Of course its a lot, when you have to vote on state drinks, poems, flowers, bugs, invertibrates, weeds, etc. and then turn around and vote the same categories for different cities and parishes.

Is Senator John McCain talking about Obama or Gov. Bobby Jindal……….

I’ve heard PayRaise Tucker and others mention that Texas Legislators aren’t paid much because they meet every other year.

I think Tucker is on to something. Having the Louisiana legislature meet only every other year sounds great to me.

I’m willing to try and live without another new state cocktail.

Anybody here gone and tried to read/decipher these bills? This is strictly my opinion (and not the opinion of this site necessarily) but, i am unable to comprehend 2,200 bills submitted this session.

I’ve been thinking that the “meeting every 2 years” should be considered but, after enlightening myself about these House/Senate Bills a little…………….I’m convinced once every five years would be sufficient.

As a matter-of-fact………dear Senators & Representatives…….I am going to challenge each and every one of you right now (and I know you’re reading here) do something different……….start taking laws off the books……stop putting more on……we DON’T need them……STOP trying to impress and out do each other. All of y’all are legends in your own minds.

By the way, y’all are all on “NOTICE”………not just a few of you. I think most of you have a good idea what was going on behind the scenes and apparently no one said a word. One of y’all be bold and tell us the truth.

Looks like Sazerac is the new official cocktail of New Orleans.

I think 2,200 bills in one session pretty much speaks for itself. No one, and I mean NO ONE, can thoughtfully consider the merits of each bill. Certainly not when there are baseball games to watch.

I believe every other year sessions are our best bet to limit damage. That said, I really like the challenge to start taking laws of the books.

The government shouldn’t worry so much. We can take care of ourselves. They just need to get out of our way.

Too bad the legislators have so much work - I do to and so do most people. They should not have taken the job if they were not willing to do the job.

G8trgirl: Please take me back to the link where you posted the dialogue from the April 05 hearing when they first started to talk about the payraise….Duplessis, etc. I can’t find it and I want to read it again to reassure myself about why I am continue to be outraged…..

Time to find where the legislators work and the businesses they own. It’s certainly time to hit them where they have hit us…in their pocket books. CAll for a BOYCOTT after the information has been found and typed on this website.

I would certainly think the legislators would meet with Jindal asking for a VETO of their pay raise bill.

Hi Liz!!! Sorry, but I’m not sure about the link you’re asking about…..you sure it was me that posted it? Maybe if you give me more details about it it will jog my memory.
