Sick of the La. Legislature?
You’re in the right place. We started developing this site at about 6pm on June 16 after reading the umpteenth comment on Nola.com expressing a desire to recall pretty much the entire legislature - at least the ones that voted for the pay raises.
We’re getting organized, and hearing from people statewide who are sick of getting the middle finger from their representation in Baton Rouge. Use the form and tell us how you will help.
We need people from every district. The recall process is nearly impossible - which is no accident, I’m sure. We need to start by getting organized, and connecting with other people in our districts. We can get started on the paperwork after that - one lesson learned from the Aaron Broussard recall attempt was not to file too early! Please keep checking for more information, and tell your friends to sign up and learn how they can get involved. Hope for success lies in a coordinated, organized grassroots effort.
We are also not limited to recall efforts. Realistically we know that most will be unsuccessful because of the way the rules are set up and voter apathy but there are certainly a lot of things we can do to remind our legislature that they work for us, that the legislature is intended to be part-time, not a career, and that we neither want nor need an elite, entitled class to rule us.
[Added: thanks for all the signups so far; as you can see we've added a couple of fields to the form. If you don't know your districts, find them here. You have to type the address in exactly, and for some reason upper case seems to help. If you're not registered to vote - do it now! Politicians don't care about what people think. They care about what angry, registered voters think.]
[Added x2: A few people have expressed concern about that we will publish their info. Your information will NOT be published or released to anyone. We will respond by email. At this point the response to this site is somewhat overwhelming so we may be slow to respond, but we will be replying as soon as possible.]
In the meantime - contact Jindal and demand a veto on the pay raises -

If Governor Jindal was a policeman and saw a child doing the wrong thing, would he step in to stop the child or let him go and say, just let his parents handle this at home on their terms. I don’t think this is what the people of the state elected him for. To turn away from a problem and say you handle it. He has
sworn to handle the problems of the state and take them on and by him not even considering a veto he is NOT
doing his job he was elected to do.
He is given the Veto Pen to use whenever something is not right for the state or the people’s best interest is not
being done. He should immediately veto this bill, send it back to the bodies and make them get more votes, put more people on record as supporting it and override the veto if they really want to thumb their noses at the voters! He is shirking his responsiblility that he said he was going to do when he said Louisiana was going to end the old politics of the past and move Louisiana FORWARD. All the ethics bills and all the other
good things he does is erased by his inability to end this dispute and show the people that HE IS THE LEADER WE ELECTED. He will never be VICE PRESIDENT MATERIAL IF HE CAN NOT SET THE MEASLY STATE LEGISLATORS IN THEIR PLACE!
I’m neither a Democrat, nor a Republican but instead am first and foremost a Louisiana bred and born American. I have witnessed so many government outrages lately that when I saw the proposed 300% payraise for members of the La Legislature, I said to myself - no way!
Despite the protests from hundreds like myself, they passed the payraise anyway, but to their credit they only passed a 200% raise - how sweet. While I sort of expected this due to the way things have been for so long, I was very disappointed to read that our new Gov indicated that his plan of action in enforcing the will of the people, was to take “no action”.
I’m mad. I’m not going to be silent any longer, and I promsie that I will remember this come election day.
I am pleased that the Acadiana area legislators voted NO to SB672 with the exception of our District 23 Senator, Mike Michot, who voted YES……..by the way, he is the Senate Finance Committee Chairman who just happens to get a larger cut of the payraise than the other legislative members.
Hats off to the people that started this website and are giving the citizens of Louisiana a chance to band together in an organized manner. I have been posting the link to this site on message board forums at all of the major newspapers in Louisiana and urge anyone reading here to do the same as well as passing it on to friends, neighbors, relatives, etc.
I still believe there is power in numbers!!!!!!
I, too, am sick of these selfish greedy politicians who have absolutely no regard for the voting public. I have signed up to do what’s necessary to let them (Jinda as well) know we won’t take this without a fight.
I think perhaps we should show them the powers of numbers by picking one day before the end of the session to go to Baton Rouge and let them see the real voices behind the emails, calls, and faxes! Would you be willing to go to Baton Rouge?
I will definitely drive to Baton Rouge!!!!!!
I would go to Baton Rouge…Remember the session ends next week. Jindal has to until July 8th to veto the raise.
