We’re getting organized, and hearing from people statewide who are sick of getting the middle finger from their representation in Baton Rouge. Use the form and tell us how you will help.
We need people from every district. Please keep checking for more information, and tell your friends to sign up and learn how they can get involved. Hope for success lies in a coordinated, organized grassroots effort.
We are also not limited to recall efforts. Realistically we know that most will be unsuccessful because of the way the rules are set up and voter apathy but there are certainly a lot of things we can do to remind our legislature that they work for us, that the legislature is intended to be part-time, not a career, and that we neither want nor need an elite, entitled class to rule us.
If you don’t know your districts, find them here. You have to type the address in exactly, and for some reason upper case seems to help.
If you’re not registered to vote - do it now! Politicians don’t care about what people think. They care about what angry, registered voters think.
Your information will NOT be published or released to anyone. We will respond by email. At this point the response to this site is somewhat overwhelming so we may be slow to respond, but we will be replying as soon as possible.
In the meantime - contact Jindal and demand a veto on the pay raises-

Who passed bill 672 raising salaries of leislature? Blame/impeach each of them, not Jindal !
Maybe it is time to REDRAW the districts and consolidate. Why increase the pay of a part time legislator who has a reduced number of “registered constituents” (ie Duplessis - 9th ward, NOeast, Hutter-Chalmette, Henderson-Violet) when the taxpayers of La. could save money by completely eliminating their jobs and consolidate their districts.
Signs for Monday:
In large letters:
VETO SB 672
Well they are at it again, check out the following:
http://www.legis.state.la.us/billdata/streamdocument.asp?did=495302
http://www.legis.state.la.us/billdata/streamdocument.asp?did=496883
SB 653 to increase the unvouchered expenses from $6,000 to $12,000 per year
HB 1063 to increase legislative assistants pay
How about a town hall meeting in a central location as the the legislators like to hold?
JINDAL IS NOT DOING HIS JOB! HE is SUPPOSE TO VETO A BILL THAT IS NOT for the good of the STATE! Then if the Leg. wants to override they can, but it takes more votes and they have to get on board. Jindal is kowtowing to them and he should be held accountable for his lack of doing his job for the people who elected him. I say RECALL HIM TOO!
TIRED OF THIS ARROGANT ATTITUDE BY THE LEGISLATURE AND JINDAL’S 3 POINT ANSWER!
I am extremely disappointed with the manner under which our legislators, in both the Senate and House, handled SB 672…..I am particularly upset with the reasoning given by most of the lawmakers as to why they voted, or felt they had to vote, in favor of SB 672. If this is the way these two “fraternities” are going to legislate … “GOD help us” because we are never going to straighten out this state no matter how much ethics legislation gets on the books. We will remain at the bottom of all “rankings” and ratings of the other states. If Jindal fails to veto SB 672 he has failed his constituents (all of us) and demonstrated he is no better a governor than some of the chronie’s before him…..first and foremost we need to investigate how SB 672 came about, (I would be very surprised if Duplessis did this on her own)
How in the world can Senator Ann Duplessis cheer a raise for her and her colleagues and we don’t have a Hospital, quality restaraunts, no decent park, no shopping or any of the necessities we need in New Orleans East!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think we to stand up and get all of them out of office

Well guys, it is now official. we do now have the bes MONEY can buy. Bobby SWINDAL and his band of thieves have proved it.
I did’nt have a problem with a pay raise. I think they deserve one . However, I have a problem with the way they went about getting it done. I will also have a problem with Jindal if he does’nt veto the bill. I will sign any petition for recall against any one who voted for this bill and the govener if he let’s it go threw.
I really had hope when I voted for Jendal and have been watching his actions since. I am very disappointed in his actions or lack of and it saddens me that nothing is going to change in this state. Lets get all on board to make a statement and challenge our senators, reps. and governor to listen to those who put them in office. P.S. I’m mad as hell!
I have been fuming and burning ever since this came up. Besides all the comments and arguments I’ve read and heard so far, I have yet to hear a couple of other issues. First, whether or not they voted for it, the ones who are taking it but “donating” it to charity deserve an extra stick-pin in their voodoo doll! I do not pay my taxes so that they can send it to a charity that we will no nothing about. What charity is it? There is no transparency or accountability (like there was before, ha ha ha) so we have no idea who the charity is, what the money may be used for, and how it is used. All the Purple Circle Social Clubs and the Jefferson Family charities are celebrating now. This is something that needs to be monitored and tracked, where the money is going. The Second issue with this, and this gets me even madder, is - these jerks also get to claim this income/donation as a tax deduction on their Federal Income Tax form! Yep, I sure would love a $17,000 tax deduction on my form! Especially since its my money (through taxes) that is going to charity! Nice fat pay raise, but guess what, I don’t need it to live on so I’m going to donate it to charity! If you can afford to donate it to charity, you don’t need the money to live on, and you do not, repeat, do not, need a pay raise. This is just another end around ethics reform.
I am fuming also about this pay raise. To begin with I think it was a set-up from the beginning by first going for 3 times their salary. A con artist/politician, which most are that hide behind the title of representative, played the 3 times game expecting the general public to accept double. I think we ought to recall every politician who voted for it.
I wished I had a boss with a rubber back bone and I could walk into his office and tell him that I just doubled my pay salary. What’s next? With a Governor like Jindal who is scared of his constitutents, what will the “MOB” do next. We should have gotten rid of Broussard but we have to find a way to get rid of these organized criminals.
I want a part time job for three that pays a minimum of $60,000.00 PLUS benefits! What are the qualifications to run?
While I read what DrTerry58 posted, and I’m completely against legislators raising their expenditures (and thus adding to their already inflated pay), I have to say that I’m NOT against a payraise for Legislative Assistants. My mother was a legislative assistant for 13 years, and she worked HARD for the little bit of pay she made. Legislative Assistants are currently paid a little bit under $22,000 a year (or at least they were at the time my mother retired). When you call your senator, you want to know who you talk to? The Legislative Assistant. When you write your senator, you want to know who reads it, and often also answers it? The Legislative Assistant. They take your calls, read your letters, organize fundraisers, make tireless calls on the behalf of the constituents, and basically put in 10-12 hour working days on your behalf. If the truth is told, the Legislative Assistant actually does most of the work of the senator and representative he/she is working for, so if anyone deserves a payraise, it’s them…
Well, the “honeymoon” is over. Swindal is living proof that no matter how honest, moral or well-intentioned, the system will corrupt you. I did expect him to last a little longer than this. Louisiana (me and you) is too stupid to govern itself.
What are we gonna do about Duplessis? She should be first on the list to be recalled b/c she authored SB 672!! She oughta be the first one out in my opinion. Anyone who’s driving around in a Mercedes and vice-president of a bank certainly does not need a pay raise!! I think we need to recall each legislator who did not sign the affidavit declining the raise. Susan D. is right, I’ll be damned if they get a tax deduction for that $17,000 for “charity!!!”
Ya’ll know about this one:

Encourage friends and family to get involved, let’s get these crooks out of office!
Are you freaking kidding me? The most corrupt and incomptent legislative in the country and what to they do in their first session they debate ad nauesm on the State drink and should it be a crime to text message while driving. Oh and by the way let double our BASE pay.Never mind the fact that they receive $143 deim per day, 51 cent per mile, subsidised housing and healthcare and a retirement plan we as citizens would all love to have. Louisiana has been dead LAST in Quality of Life issues for the past 20 years. Jesus Christ even Blanco had enough backbone to tell the legislative no a pay raise. And please lets not forget just last year the La. legislative tried to vote themselves Healthy Care for life. All of this for a part time position. Enough is enough we cannot and we will not
allow this to happen!
Signed,
Angry as Hell
Recall them all and let them NEVER run again for any public office. If Govenor Jindal doesn’t veto the pay raise, then he is allowing them to “blackmail” him. He made a promise to us; as did the senators and representatives. Please know, these guys are not capable of “doing what is best for the state”. They are all greedy. One representative from North Louisiana made this comment to a old friend, “They (the voters)won’t remember we did is in four years”. And he laughed and said “business is businesss”. Okay, who’s business is he talking about??? Selfish bastard.
Many of these creeps are freshman legislators who at first chance vote themselves a pay raise. Can we sign petitions electronically? I’m ready to sign.
It’s a shame that the, “hogs at the trough”legislators that voted
for themselves a hugh payraise, are so destitute that they can
only think of ways to help themselves out of poverty.I wish they would all resign, return to their well paying businesses and
work hard to make the money honestly that it would take to
get them out of the poverty that they are in.When I see
pictures of these legislators,I see people that seem to be well
fed and healthy, properly attired, and do not appear to be
very poor.If they were to resign,Just maybe, we “illiterate”
citizens in their districts might be able to get some honest
people elected to honestly represent us.
If Jindal doesn’t veto this pay raise-he is doing the same as
approving it.This will put him in the same catagory as voting
FOR it.Maybe we need to start thinking of recall for him too.
It’s about time the people of Lousisana took a stand against corrupt government. I’m planning to be at that rally and to sign the recall petition for Gov. Jindal. I voted for him and I’m really disappointed that he won’t veto this pay raise.
